We need to focus on what is the best for promoting Chinese language and culture education. If there are commonly used simplified characters and people are not confused about them, we can surely use them. For those simplified characters that cause more trouble to learn Chinese, we should not use them. Thank you so much for sharing your success.  I would love to do what you have done for the past years.  However, I had to keep putting it aside year after year.  I did demonstrated Chinese calligraphy and told simple story of the Nien to Lauren&#039;s class last year, but that was it...  If information can be shared with one another, all of us can certainly make difference, more kids will benefit from our efforts and Chinese culture can be broadcasted better.  I appreciate you share your template and format with us.

Thank you for your template and beautiful pictures. I am very excited to know that there are more and more people from Chinese school community dedicating their time and effort showing our culture. I would like to echo that it indeed is a very rewarding experience. This is the kind of story we need to share and hear.

I am still doing the Chinese New Year presentations to schools, community centers, corporations and senior centers. Depends on the audiences, I also introduced Kitchen God (灶神), Chinese couplets (春 聯), Chinese zodiac (十二生肖), story of the Nien, New Year&#039;s Eve get-together dinner (年夜飯), 拜年, the Lantern Festival (元宵節), and Lunar calendar (農曆). If your child(ren) has talents such as Chinese Yo-Yo, paper arts, and/or Tai-Chi (or other Chinese martial arts) it is also a great opportunity to demonstrate.

We have been talking for years to provide some type of information sharing sessions to teachers and parents about outside presentations of Chinese culture especially Chinese New Year but it did not work due to short month in December and busy activities in January. If there are any ideas on how to do this or improve it please share your thoughts.

Comments on 華語通 [E-pen] Level 3:  There are two problems I see with this material.  One is that the CD from 生活華語 does not correlate with the lessons from 華語通.  So the class doesn&#039;t have any ready made CD or other audio support to go with this material.  The other is that I sense that 華語通 simply has more English explanations and translations than 生活華語, but it is not exactly written with the B-track students in mind.  There are many exercises in Workbook B that are simply beyond the ability of my students.

To tie up the loose ends among our students (who have all come from different teachers and different tracks in the past) I have been using IQchinese Pinyin and Go100 as supplementary material for the class.  I see great progress in pinyin and in character recognition.  I am now also starting to get my students to recite from memory the main text (chants) of each lesson.  Hopefully this will also get them to increase their listening comprehension and verbal response.

IQchinese&#039;s Reader 3.5 is not a recommended product for teacher or student.  Sometimes the pronunciation is not accurate.

IQchinese&#039;s Quiz is good.  I can see it being a good medium for a teacher to setup exercises for character recognition and pinyin typing.  As a teacher I can setup a Quiz with vocabulary from 華語通 [E-pen]or from any source text.

If IQchinese were to become standard supplementary material for the B-track (a move that I can really recommend) I would like to see the school to be able to lock in on a sale price for the IQchinese products.  However much I like Go100, it is not worth their standard published price on their website.</description>

去年年底僑務委員會議與校長代表回國，不分藍綠強烈建議僑委會供應華語通給中文學校，以免學生流失。
貴校走在全球中文學校的最前面。
根據與僑委會討論的結果，華語通正式更名為「生活華語正簡版」，課數與正體字版相同。僑委會已經正式將正簡版1-4冊列入選書清單，不知你看到沒？未來貴校使用正簡版將可由僑委會免費供應了。生活華語正體字版前三冊也出第二版，加入英文與語法句型全圖練習等。
正簡版第三冊有一半以上（六課）是原華語通第四冊的內容，已經正式印出。貴校5B若要使用，麻煩告知。
另外，K1-3也已經列入選書清單，清單內目前只列課本，貴校若用K1-3，可加列「K1-3音樂CD與習作」。

            華語通第一冊   EPen光碟經老師和本校副校長測試後，發現無法使用，副校長本身在microsoft工作 他猜測是電腦軟體太舊。
            可否有補救方式?
             
            第一冊習作已收到了，非常謝謝您幫忙。本校由於已經開學，所以不便更改使用新版第一冊，但是將於明年開始使用，我大致看過內容，覺得比舊版更好，應該會對學生有幫助。

Subject: 生活華語K1-3與正簡版1-4</p>
<p>湯校長：<br />
去年年底僑務委員會議與校長代表回國，不分藍綠強烈建議僑委會供應華語通給中文學校，以免學生流失。<br />
貴校走在全球中文學校的最前面。<br />
根據與僑委會討論的結果，華語通正式更名為「生活華語正簡版」，課數與正體字版相同。僑委會已經正式將正簡版1-4冊列入選書清單，不知你看到沒？未來貴校使用正簡版將可由僑委會免費供應了。生活華語正體字版前三冊也出第二版，加入英文與語法句型全圖練習等。<br />
正簡版第三冊有一半以上（六課）是原華語通第四冊的內容，已經正式印出。貴校5B若要使用，麻煩告知。<br />
另外，K1-3也已經列入選書清單，清單內目前只列課本，貴校若用K1-3，可加列「K1-3音樂CD與習作」。<br />

<p>    因為擔心第四冊會來不及運到，加上學生程度考量，本校目前B track最高班5B和3B都用華語通第三冊教材，明年再做調整。<br />
    謝謝您趕工第四冊，如果可以在本學期結束前寄到，或許5B仍可以用上，如此就不會有銜接上的問題。</p>
